WHAT’S DIFFERENT ABOUT THE NCA?
The NCA has a unique dog show concept – TWO TIERS: Non-Professional and Professional. Each tier has the same classes: Puppy, Bred-By, Open, Winners, BOB, Groups and BIS. There are EIGHT Groups in each tier: SPORTING, HOUND, WORKING, TERRIER, TOY, NON-SPORTING, HERDING AND RARE BREED. Each Group winner will compete for BIS in their respective tier. In the Groups, the Non-Professional winner and the Professional winner compete for SUPREME GROUP. The climax of the show is when the Non-Professional BIS winner and the Professional BIS winner meet to compete for SUPREME BEST IN SHOW.
ADDITIONAL DIFFERENCES:
• An altered dog can compete in the regular classes as long as the breed standard does not indicate it to be a disqualification.
• Even if it does, the NCA provides the Purebred Companion Dog Class, a class for purebred rescue and /or any other purebred dog, whereby and for whatever reason a purebred dog cannot compete in the regular classes.
Points are awarded by the number of dogs exhibited up through Supreme Best In Show. Maximum points awarded at one show is 35. 100 points needed for an NCA championship title. A minimum of 5 points is awarded for Winners Dog/Bitch. Technically, a CH title can be achieved in three shows!
